I have been collecting tins from thrift stores and garage sales. Today I played around with mod-podge and my old French book on birds.
Mod-podge works really well on tin. Just "Paint" the back of your cut-out and "paint" over the top. Paint about 1/4 of an inch past the cut-out. I like to use foam brushes. No loose bristles or marks to deal with. You clean the edges with a Clorox wet wipe. Keeps the tin clean. Very easy. Control bubbles by gentling gliding over the wet area with your finger. If you are Mod-podging on a flat surface you can use special tools. They look a butter knife. I like being as hands on as I can.
These tins came to $1.50 total. I bought this fabulous vintage French book for 50 cents. I had the other odds and ends already. I never have plan really. I just start and have fun. I add and decide as I go.
Now....what to fill them with????
I need to save this page for later! this is such a cute idea and something I would love to make! I could get a LOT of seashells in one of these! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteVery cute!! I especially love the smaller ones with the birds. I use those type of containers to hold things like scissors, markers, pens, etc...fun storage!

ADORABLE!!!! I absolutely love it. Anything you put in there is going to look spectacular. I could definitely see some of my art supplies in there. Fill them with something white, share a post, and join us at my "Snow in July" white-themed blog party next month. ;) (July 20-22)
