Cherry Delight

Can you spot the four leaf clover?

Friday afternoon treats. I worked at one of the local high schools. The AG department was selling these adorable shamrock filled watering cans for $3. There were three left this morning and I bought them all. What do you think of my Cherry Delight? Yum?

I am glad I bought all three of these cuties. Lucas gave one to the family that walks home from school with Lucie. I am giving one to me mum (sorry. I had to do that) on Sunday. She'll be coming over for corned beef and cabbage.

When we got home today we all had a piece of "cherry delight." I thought it would make a nice post........and I wanted some :)

My friend on Facebook posted this on her wall from Pinterest. I had the ingredients by the end of the week and whipped it up last night. Um....delicious! It takes NO baking....
Check out "Creative Carmella" here!

Crust:
1 package of Keebler Sandies Cookies (I used pecan sandies)
1/2 stick butter (room temp)

Topping:
1 small container (8oz)  Cool-Whip (chilled but not frozen)
3 Cups Powdered Sugar
1 block cream cheese (softened)
1 can Cherry Pie Filling

Three steps:

I don't have a lot of free time, so I am always making short cuts. The original recipe tells you to crumble the whole container of cookies in your food processor, place crumbs in a bowl and stir in the butter. I thought, hum....and just tossed the 1/2 stick of butter into the Cuisinart. No dirty bowl, no stirring. I used a smaller baking dish. ~9 3/4 X 9 3/4 Bake 350-20 minutes.

Then again (lazy) I wiped the food processor out with a paper-towel (to get rid of crumbs) added the first three "topping" ingredients to the food processor. mix. pour over cooled cookie crust. Chill for at least 30 minutes.

Pour cherry filling over individual servings. I used country cherry filling.

It's delicious! I hope you get a chance to try this!

Bisous!!!

Paper Goods!

It's becoming quite the habit for me to pass by the clearance area in my grocery store....and can you blame me? Look what I found today!!

One pad of Italian scroll cheese papers! 25 sheets. Cool....they have a  parchment paper-like top. These will be great for a party or a project! 99 cents!

A big thick pad of paper marked, "Menu." Fun! 59 cents!!!

Look at the large roll of Italian scroll paper table runner. The end is at least 1/2 think....this will cover table after table! Amazing. 99 cents.

I love these black and white 12" round serving papers. It's a pad of 25. They can be used place-mats, on plate stands. 99 cents.

My only mistake? I should have purchased more!! I did get the last roll of the paper table runner.

What do think? Good purchase? What would you do with these??? I hope you like seeing my great finds!!

Bisous!!

Guy Buffet Dishes and a Quiche Lorraine!

We are having lunch with some great French friends today. I got involved with a "French Speaking Moms" group when we first moved back from France.

Turns out one of the women in the group lived 10 minutes away from Stan’s parents in France. We both lost our father's a year apart from Cancer. Nathalie was the first person to show up at my mom's, with her mom...and a gigantic bouquet of flowers.

We'll have a champagne and Chemin Blanc with our quiche.

I bought breakfast style bundt cake, have fresh fruit and plan on make a green salad. Nathalie has a boy, Luc and girl, Margaux. Lucie and Lucas are very excited to see them today! Can you believe the kids will be dinging outside! It's a beautiful day!

I was excited to find these plates at a garage sale. The whole lot of 7 were $4. Perfect shape.

I found an entire set of Rogers sliver plated flatware from 1928. They were just PART of a huge box of silver I found for $24. I thought these looked great with my Guy Buffet plates.

This is my favorite quche recipe. I only change two things. I buy a pre-made crust and do not use milk.

The directions. I do everything they suggest, except...I don't make my own crust AND I do not use MILK!!! I use a Mexican cream I found to very similar to French Creme Fraiche, but a fraction of the price.

This quiche is delicious! Quiche is easy to make. If you have never made a quiche,  I suggest you try it. It might become one of your favorites! It's a great dish to bring to a potluck or serve for brunch! A crowd pleaser! I hope you get a chance to make this!

Vintage monogram hand-towels and more...

Hooray!! I finally found some good deals at my local thrift stores today!
I found these two gorgeous vintage monogram hand-towels.  99 cents each. I think they are just beautiful. I love to image the families behind each monogram. Maybe the were wedding gifts.
The teapot was not a great deal...bought that a few weeks ago and wanted to share. It was $9.99 and is a reproduction...so probably too much. The sugar bowl was $2.99. there is no creamer.....it's so darn cute though. I do have a question, how many teapots does one need??
I loved this mini mug. It was $2.99. There were two others Pickwick mugs that I would have purchased normally, but they were the same price and smaller. I didn't care for the design on those. Do you see that stack of dishes in the background? Hee.

Because Goodwill has hiked up their prices, today I went down the road to a thrift store I rarely go to. Look what I found.... set of 11;  222Fifth "Christmas Ribbon" dishes. They are a salad or appetizer size. I think they are darling AND...the set of 11 (missing one...sad face) was only $6.99. Oh wait....white tags were 75% off.  Finally!! An awesome deal!!!

I think these are adorable and I know...so so sick that I am already setting my table for Christmas in my head, but come on, you would too!!

Could do all the Lords and Ladies or all the birds for a small groups :)

I hope you enjoyed my deals and I here's hoping you find something great the next time you are out and about!!

Thanks for stopping by! Bisous!!

Here's an update on Stan and his momma:

Stan is on a flight from Toulouse, France to Frankfurt, Germany. Then back to California. I will be picking him up in San Francisco tomorrow. The kids are very happy and missed him a lot. It was a rough two weeks as he was the rock and glue for his family. I am sad to report that her treatment has not yet started, but a plan is underway. She talked about taking Lucie to the pony club for riding lessons this summer. I think it is her way of coping. Today in his email he simply wrote that; he kissed his mother on her forehead, had a little cry and then left. My heart aches for him as I know how hard it is to live so far away.

Tea For Two

Each saucer reads, "A friendship is a blend of caring, sharing and warmth."
I spotted these two cups and saucers from about two aisles over. With prices on the rise at my local Goodwill, I was happy that they were reasonably priced. 49 cents for each cup and each saucer. I did have to pass up a few pieces of reproduction transferware. Each plate was priced at $9.99.

I knew these friendship teacups would match my black and white Laurie Gates teapot and dishes.
We have fresh sweet berries in all the stores now. They are a favorite in my house. In fact after I finished my pictures...the berries vanished. Yet, the cookies were hardly touched.
My teacups are perfect for a little tea for two...
Who better to have a tea party with than my little Lucie girl?

Thinking of all my blogging friends that are covered in snow....I offer up my snowflake sugar.
My Laurie Gates set includes the teapot, large square platter and two heart shaped plates. I also have white canisters and an extremely large fruit bowl in the black that matches the teapot.
One of favorite pieces is the this antique black serving plate with handle. It as beautiful scalloped edges and a gorgeous art-deco handle.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope you like my new black and white friendship teacups.

 Gros bisous!
