Halloween Candy Kabobs

Happy Halloween, everybody! I made these for Lucie's Halloween party tomorrow. I am glad I started early. They are time consuming and like everything you learn as you go! Like....start from the top. The orange slices make for a messy gooey stick!! They got better as I got used to it.

It makes for a great center piece....who doesn't love a candy bouquet? You could also used a plastic pumpkin as the "vase" My little galvanised tin is filled with sugar! Won't Lucie's teacher just LOVE me?

Candy! I bough the peeps early. I am glad I did. They were just about gone every where I looked recently. Next time I'd used gummy teeth and chocolate eyeballs too! Black liquorice was sold out all over town...so I found grape. I thin the kid will like that better.

I got a sugar high just from opening the containers! Yummy!!!!!!! The twisters didn't curve and bend as I wanted them too. So, I cut them up and used them as spacers instead!
Not even Halloween yet, and yes, I am ready for Christmas! Bring it on!!!

Have fun......
My heart goes out to everyone on the East coast...where the last thing on their minds is Halloween.

A Wonderful Sugar Cookie Glaze

Well, Pinterest you have done it again. This recipe for sugar cookie glaze is amazing. If you are planning on making cookies for the upcoming holidays I highly recommend this one! I just wish I was more talented, but that doesn't stop the fun!

This easy to make glaze stays shiny and turns hard on the surface.

Here is what you need....and some milk. Here is the original post and recipe!
http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/simple-cookie-glaze-recipe

You always feel like it can't be possible...all of this powdered sugar and so little liquid, but it works.  I didn't shift the powdered sugar as requested. I just whipped it a bit with the whisk. I always take short cuts. It seemed to work just fine.

Add color. Follow the food coloring directions.  We chose purple for the bats.

Cookie decorating station all set up. Lucie's little creation station! I just love that my local market has ready to decorate sugar cookies for every holiday! Thanks, Belair! The fun eyes can be found at Michael's and the market now too!

Lucie did a great job! I just allowed her to do her thing.

Look how shiny!

Lucie's ghost! I am an early bird....we were decorating in our PJ's.

Smart Lucas....always thinking outside the box...three eyes! Clever.

Love this glaze!

It's beginning to feel like Halloween!

Cookie jar ready to fill up!

Happy Halloween!!!!!

Air Wick Color Changing Candle Black Edition

Look what I found. Aren't the cool? It's the same candle, but it slowly and softly changes colors. Very soothing and relaxing. I bought one for my classroom. When I have a prep period, with no kids, I put in a little Norah Jones and light my candle. It's been relaxing. It would make my day as I entered grades.

There are three patterns. Two round, shown here and one square  shaped pattern. I like the round patterns. They came in Apple cinnamon and Lavender. The square shape came in vanilla.

They are about $5.95. The frosted white glass jars can be found at Walmart and Target. These Black Editions are sold only at Walmart. I love both! Great stocking stuffer for a teenager. Fun unique hostess gift, teachers gift this Christmas or just a little treat for yourself. They'd be great for your next bubble bath.

Let me know what you think. Do you think you'll get one??
