I spotted these two cups and saucers from about two aisles over. With prices on the rise at my local Goodwill, I was happy that they were reasonably priced. 49 cents for each cup and each saucer. I did have to pass up a few pieces of reproduction transferware. Each plate was priced at $9.99.
I knew these friendship teacups would match my black and white Laurie Gates teapot and dishes.
We have fresh sweet berries in all the stores now. They are a favorite in my house. In fact after I finished my pictures...the berries vanished. Yet, the cookies were hardly touched.
Who better to have a tea party with than my little Lucie girl?
Thinking of all my blogging friends that are covered in snow....I offer up my snowflake sugar.
My Laurie Gates set includes the teapot, large square platter and two heart shaped plates. I also have white canisters and an extremely large fruit bowl in the black that matches the teapot. |
Thanks for joining me today! I hope you like my new black and white friendship teacups.
Gros bisous!
Karen

They are a fantastic find. I've fallen in love with them and will have to keep my eyes open for something similar. They are beautiful! Take care. Chel
ReplyDeleteThanks you, Chel! I couldn't find any information on these teacups, so I have know idea who made or sold them. I am glad I got them...even though I obviously DON'T need them. :)

What a lovely find! And how fun to have someone so special to share them with! I love the snow sugar! Did you make them? I've noticed the fruit being especially sweet and wonderful lately!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I do love my little tea party partner!! I bought the snowflake sugars in a cute tea shop in Auburn, California. It was a small box that had white and light blue snowflakes. I have seen lots of pretty sugar cubes on Pinterest. I am tempted to make some myself. Hope you have a great week, Leslie!

those are perfect with your teapot!! Oh my, today we had snow all day long (even if it didn't stick on the roads)...I am SO ready for Spring
ReplyDeleteThank you! My husband has been in France. When he first arrived two weeks ago it was freezing cold. I think it even snowed. He has become quite accustomed the weather here in California. Doesn't take long. Today everyone was in T-shirts by noon. Hope it warms up where you are soon! Hope you have a great week!!

The tea for two set is very sweet! Love the saying on them. Those raspberries look soooo yummy! What a sweet time with your girl!
ReplyDeleteWarmly,
deb
Thanks, Deb! I do love my little Lucie girl. She's very sweet and fun. I am telling you the berries were delicious. Hope you are having a good week so far!!

Oh, I would have scooped those up too. I like pieces that have writing on them. '-) These are perfect with your teapot and that charming tray. Interesting that you mentioned the GW prices. I've noticed that too. Some of the things are priced too high to be considered any kind of bargain. Not sure what they are thinking. It's all free to them. One would think they want to price it to move it out.
ReplyDeleteHi, Sarah! I have heard from several people that they too feel like Goodwill prices are on the rise. It's for a good cause, but I have been buying less and less. We'll see if it works for them. Not as fun for me though!! I hope you are having a great week!

Hello sweet Lucy! Karen, these cups and saucers are just lovely, and I like what they say. The black and white tea pot is also very pretty. I have been buying strawberries lately too. You know, they have some nice looking ones at Target. I just got some last week. Enjoy your tea cups, sweetie.
ReplyDelete~Sheri at Red Rose Alley
Thank you, Sheri!! I love black and white with touches of red. I also love writing on plates, etc. So, I am really glad I got them. I am glad they were a bargain too! I am running out of excuses for buying things! The berries were great! I'll have to check them out at Target! I love Target! I hope you have a great week!

Hello Karen,
ReplyDeleteI really love these two new friendship teacups, fab find! Yay for you!
I think the price was great. Our Goodwill is really expensive. I don't think they would have let your cups go for less than $4. Really. It takes the fun out of it. lol!
And that black and white teapot! wow! It is amazing! All together your table setting looks wonderful.
Hugs,
Terri
Thanks, Terri! Our Goodwill is very expensive too. Average mugs and saucers are 49 cents each...I guess since these had no marks (England, etc) they were regular. Next to them was a transferware-like teacup and saucer that was $9.99. Can you believe I found the teapot about a year or so ago AFTER I had purchased all the matching piece (not shown, big bowls, canisters, etc) at Home Goods? Funny how you fin some matching pieces like that! The teapot too was only $4.99. It would be at least $10 now that the prices have gone up. Can't wait for garage sales!

Simply gorgeous!!! I know what you mean about GW prices - all of our thrift stores are higher priced now. Darn! What a lovely tea partner you have - that Lucie is a doll. Berries look so good...we will be getting snow south of us on later tomorrow. Not where I live - why would I say that??? Jinx...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bonnie! I was talking to a Goodwill employee that said they have all been trained on china markings, etc now. It does take the fun out of it. I am still going, but buying less. The berries were delicious! We have been very lucky. Today people were in T-shirts and jeans. It's supposed to be 79 degrees by next Monday!! I'll try to send some sunshine your way!

Your sweet little Lucia is a treasure indeed to share tea = and how fast they grow!
ReplyDeleteI like your china, it's fun - oh and those berries, mmmmmmmm!!
Thanks, Michele!! It is fun. I need to start using my things even if it's just tea for me!! The berries were amazing! They got gobbled up quickly. I hope you have a wonderful week!

What a pretty set, Karen, and the cups and saucers are perfect with it. Our Goodwills have gotten a bit out of hand, too, but it is nice to find a good deal occasionally.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Laura
Thanks, Laura! I suppose with the prices on the rise, it makes it that much better wen you do fins a good deal!! Hope your week is going well!
DeleteKaren
You've found a charming pair of teacups! Our thrift store doesn't have much to pick from, and certainly nothing like you've found to share a spot of tea with your special girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Vickie! I am amazed at all the things in our Goodwill...every day tons of new stuff. It gets me in so much trouble. This was thriving farm town back in the day...so it makes sense that I find wonderful vintage treasures coming in all the time. Goodwill has gotten wise to it all though! Darn! Thanks so much for visiting!

I'm one of those blogging friends covered in snow :(...but those snowflake sugars are adorable. I'd happily welcome snowflake sugars. What a great deal on your most recent tea cups and saucers and an even better way to celebrate their purchase than to have a tea party with Lucie. Adorable.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Amy! I always have blogging in the back of my mind when making purchases. When I think it will make a nice post it's just a even bigger excuse for buying something!!! I need more dishes like...well. You know. I did not need them. They are very cool though :) I hope arrives for you soon. It's suppose to be 79 degrees here next Monday :) I'll send sunshine your way!!
