I found these two gorgeous vintage monogram hand-towels. 99 cents each. I think they are just beautiful. I love to image the families behind each monogram. Maybe the were wedding gifts.
The teapot was not a great deal...bought that a few weeks ago and wanted to share. It was $9.99 and is a reproduction...so probably too much. The sugar bowl was $2.99. there is no creamer.....it's so darn cute though. I do have a question, how many teapots does one need??
I loved this mini mug. It was $2.99. There were two others Pickwick mugs that I would have purchased normally, but they were the same price and smaller. I didn't care for the design on those. Do you see that stack of dishes in the background? Hee.
Because Goodwill has hiked up their prices, today I went down the road to a thrift store I rarely go to. Look what I found.... set of 11; 222Fifth "Christmas Ribbon" dishes. They are a salad or appetizer size. I think they are darling AND...the set of 11 (missing one...sad face) was only $6.99. Oh wait....white tags were 75% off. Finally!! An awesome deal!!!
I think these are adorable and I know...so so sick that I am already setting my table for Christmas in my head, but come on, you would too!!
Could do all the Lords and Ladies or all the birds for a small groups :)
I hope you enjoyed my deals and I here's hoping you find something great the next time you are out and about!!
Thanks for stopping by! Bisous!!
Karen
Here's an update on Stan and his momma:
Stan is on a flight from Toulouse, France to Frankfurt, Germany. Then back to California. I will be picking him up in San Francisco tomorrow. The kids are very happy and missed him a lot. It was a rough two weeks as he was the rock and glue for his family. I am sad to report that her treatment has not yet started, but a plan is underway. She talked about taking Lucie to the pony club for riding lessons this summer. I think it is her way of coping. Today in his email he simply wrote that; he kissed his mother on her forehead, had a little cry and then left. My heart aches for him as I know how hard it is to live so far away.

Terrific bargains - that teapot will really shine this fall! Darling and fun things!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bernideen!! I was really happy with my finds!

What wonderful finds. I really love those sweet dishes and the Pickwick cup. I have one of those same hand (or tea) towels with the monogramming on it. Glad for the update on Stan. I think I missed most of this when I was gone- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diana! I can't wait to use the dishes. I have a pretty 12 Days of Christmas tablecloth. I need to see if they match :) Yes, Stan's mom was diagnosed with lung cancer right when you had to leave to see your brother :( Stan's passport had just expired, so he had to a an emergency passport and rush over. He might be held up in customs, because of his temporary passport. Poor guy. I am leaving in about 2 hours to head to San Francisco. He'll be relieved when he sees me and the kids.

I wish Stan a safe journey back to you and your sweet family. I know this separation was difficult for all of you and that being so far from his mom is also stressful.
ReplyDeleteLove you recent finds, and kudos to you for the great deals. I even thing the teapot and sugar were a good buy. They are charming. And who's counting the teapots? '-)
Thanks for sharing...........Sarah
Thanks. Sarah! I am certainly not counting anything...this is part of my problem :) Oh well!! I am still happy with my deals and love everything I bought. I am leaving in a few hours to pick Stan up in San Francisco. Made a welcome home banner and have a meal in the Crock-pot. My mom is picking the kids up from school. Lots of love awaiting Stan.

I am so jealous you found those monogramed towels!!! I bet some where in your future you will find a 12th plate somewhere...Always fun to have something to look forward to. Oh so sad about your MIL, your hubby must be so heartbroken!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Carol, you read my mind! I was searching the web for that twelfth plate already! Couldn’t find these plates anywhere, but I love a good search! Stan is heartbroken and torn. I am sure he will be so happy to see me, Lucas, Lucie, my mom and the dogs tonight. Every night Lola and Charlie (our two dogs) run to the door if they hear a car, etc. Just hoping it's Stan. We have all missed him.

I sure would be thinking Christmas table if I saw those dishes. The real deals come when you think way ahead of time. I hope it gives Stan a little comfort to know that all of us are thinking of him and praying for his mom to go into remission. My dad was incurable and went into spontaneous remission for 13 yrs. Miracles do happen.
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic finds - don't think I could have resisted it either!
ReplyDeletePrayers for Stan's mother - and so happy that he got to spend some time with her - it must have meant so much to her.

Thanks, Suzan!! I am happy with my finds. It's been awhile since I found a good deal like the plates and towels. I am leaving in a couple hours to pick Stan up at the airport. Darn airports...they can be so emotional. I know it's hard living so far away. He'll be surround by loved ones tonight...and nice home cooked meal. The support from all my blogging friends has surprised and touched him so much! Thanks!

What a fabulous deal on the Christmas plates! I love the way you've staged the monogramed towels, too. I have a few in my linen closet that I really should figure out how to display.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tricia! I think the tea-towels would look good spilling out of a soup tureen, etc. I'll be playing around them!! Now get yours out and have fun!! I am leaving to pick Stan up soon, but I look forward to visiting and seeing what you've been up to. I LOVE your blog and beautiful tablescapes!

Lovely finds, all of them, but the embroidered towels are truly the best!
ReplyDeleteKaren, My heart breaks for your family. It was sad to read about your husband's visit with his mother. Give him a big hug for me. I liked all your treasures from the thrift shop. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteKaren I do love all your wonderful finds and especially the deal on the Christmas plates! I too 'set tables' in my mind!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry there isn't better news about your Mother In Law. It is so sad and so very hard for your husband I know. Sending your family good wishes and big hugs,
Linda
Those Christmas dishes are ADORABLE. Just like you, I am trying to venture out to more thrift stores than just Goodwill. And, you can never have too many tea pots. You brought a tear to my eye with your update about Stan and his mom.
ReplyDeleteI love those cute Christmas plates. Adorable. I am always months ahead on decorating and finding new treasures for the up coming holidays.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear what your hubby is going through and your whole family. I am sending best wishes your way. You always have hope for better days ahead. I hope that for you and your family.
Kris
I will keep your mother in law in my prayers. I know how hard it is. You've sure had some good luck finding treasures. I love buying Christmas things out of season! It's just the MOST fun!
ReplyDeleteI need someone to go thrift shopping with. I never find any deals like these! And I bought my tea pot at a thrift store for twice that so you did well and if you like the tea pot, and it's a fair price, why not? Can there be too many? (Only if the Ladies' Auxillary hears of it and pegs you to host the next tea party.)
ReplyDeleteMy heart went out to Stan and his mother after reading your comments. Praying for you all. It's not easy that's for sure.
Those are indeed some very nice finds.Love the linens! I too have noticed Goodwill has hiked their prices. Kind of defeats the reason for donating & shopping there sometimes. Yet, I have come away with some very nice things at exceptional bargain prices. The goodwill stores in our area are almost as nice as many mall stores and now they even have racks and racks of new socks, underwear, shoes, etc that have been donated by some outlets. I am finding my local thrift stores are also the best source for real bargains in the vintage dept.
ReplyDeleteBTW, our local Goodwills are very particular about what they let people donate anymore.
I'm sorry about the illness in your family.
ReplyDeleteOn a cheerier not, what a pretty teapot!
Those plates are darling and I can't even believe the deal that you got! There was no way you could leave them behind.
