I am glad I waited. They look so pretty with my heart shaped cherub plate I found at Goodwill yesterday.
I felt guilty for splurging....it was $4.99. I think that's way too high for Goodwill.
It WAS made in Italy, but for FTD. So, it's not what you'd call a collectible,
It's not vintage....but it's mine and it matches my candlesticks.
After grouping it with my pretty red roses, I am glad I splurged.
Tonight we are watching, "To Rome with Love." Have you seen that yet? It looked good. Stan is coming home early and we are going to enjoy it together. We hardly ever do that on week nights. I guess I am just in a frivolous mood!
Have you seen any romantic movies lately?
Bisous,
Karen I am linking up with:
Come link up here!! |
I love your vignette Karen. That plate is so sweet. I'll have to wait a few more months for my roses to even bud lol! I was at Goodwill today and could not believe the prices! Feels almost like full retail pricing to me! Have a wonderful evening with the hubs. Mr. B's idea of a romantic movie is only one car being blown up lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathe! It's been a very mild winter. I'll probably prune back the rose bush this weekend. Can you believe I just had a hibiscus bloom? Stan is a real good sport about movies. I need to work on be better about him watching sports :) Enjoy the rest of your week!

That is really sweet, Karen. What a great piece to find and put with your candlesticks. I just love. I haven't seen ANY movies lately- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was happy to see they were a pretty good match when I got the plate home. (Less guilt). I am excited about the movie tonight. Stan has been working on a heavy duty project. He'll be home by 7 p.m. to watch it! Woo Hoo. That's early for him these days! Rent a movie or go see one if you can!! The Oscars are right around the corner!
DeleteSo Lovely Karen and romantic. Love the red roses and the plates.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet compliment. How can I help you?
Thanks, Linda! I am not sure if I am ready to really do anything. I am still going back and forth on the idea of even having time to just blog. I would want to re-size my header or make a nice one. I want the pin it button on my blog and I would want a different back ground and re-arrange all the side bar things. Just a cohesive theme. :) Maybe someday. For now I just need the energy to do a post :) Kids woke me up at 5:15 playing video games this morning! You are amazing, though. I'd definitely ask you to help!!!!
DeleteI recently watched "French Kiss" again - old one with Meg Ryan and Kevin Cline....one of my all-time favorite funny love stories - and WOW does it have a GREAT soundtrack!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you splurged. GW is getting higher priced here too. Your neew plate matches your candlesticks so well and those roses- so "oh la la" beautiful!!
Michele, I love "French Kiss". I love "Forget Paris" too. Both from around the same time. Have you ever seen the British film, "Deja Vu"??? My all time favorite love story. Starts in Jerusalem, then she goes to Paris and then England. She does interior design and collects antiques...just an added bonus in the film!! It was never popular here. If you can rent it, I recommend it!! Happy weekend!

Beautiful roses.....Ahhh, living the happy, frivolous, romantically charmed life! I love it.

Yes!! The happy, frivolous and romantically charmed life....just on a smaller scale!! lol I can always fantasize!! Have a great weekend!

So beautiful and love the red roses!!! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteThank you, Heather! I HAVE to prune down the roses today. Seems so odd. It's going to be in the 70s. Have a great weekend!

I love the red and white, in fact I ADORE the red and white polkadot bowls in your header!!! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I found the red and white polka dishes, from Sur La Table, at Goodwill for 49 cents. I was excited. I wish they had more!! Have a great weekend!

Love your valentine design on your table. So pretty. That is pricey for Goodwill on the plate they must have priced it on cuteness factor!!!! It is adorable. Glad you got it. It is really cute.
ReplyDeleteKris
Thanks, Kris! I thought $4.99 was high as well. Especially for something that's not a collectible, etc. But, hey...I thought it would make a good post! :) Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great weekend!

Your sweet winter rose looks like my mother's climbing rose. It's really a beauty.
ReplyDeleteI would not have passed up that plate for a mere $4.99, and I'm pretty cheap! It's a perfect match for your candlesticks after all! I would say, "Good Eye!"
Thanks! I am glad I did get the plate. After Valentine's Day I need to pack it up with the candlesticks and try to remember them next year! That's always a challenge for me. I have to go out and prune the rose today. It's going to be in 70s. Part of me just wants to leave it, but it's best to get it pruned before spring. :) This is just a bush...I'd love some pretty climbing roses!!

It looks great. I love to pop into goodwill but their prices do seem quite pricey these days. Your arrangement looks amazing so it was worth the splurge
ReplyDeleteThanks, Japolina! Their prices have gotten higher. I hate to pay $5 for a plate that's not vintage or collectible, but it was a good match. I enjoy your posts...sorry I am long winded :) When I see a question....I get a little excited!! lol. Hope you don't mind. Have a great weekend!
DeleteThe heart shaped cherub is a heart thief! And you were right not to prune those roses yet, such deep velvety burgundy petals, they are amazingly beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!!! I plan on pruning my rose today!! Aughh. There aren't as many buds on it right now. Supposed to be in the 70s today.
DeleteThanks for stopping by! I hope you have a very nice weekend!
Karen
Your Valentine vignette is charming!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jemma! Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh, I agree, you could not have left the store without that plate, given that you already owned candlesticks to match! Lovely red roses -- wish mine were in bloom. It IS time to prune them here in Texas!
ReplyDeleteI love my blogging friends! The perfect cure for spending guilt!! It's true tough, I think they are a perfect match. I am glad I got it, even if $5 is high for a non-collectible//non-vintage plate.
DeletePruning today in Northern California! Supposed to 70 degrees! :) Enjoy your weekend, Tricia!
Beautiful plate and I think it was worth "splurging" on :) It's very unique. I really enjoyed seeing your roses - they are lovely and I'm sure they smell heavenly.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful day!
Hugs,
Stephanie
Karen that plate is so cute and I love that it matches your candlesticks. Perfect with your red roses! I find GW the highest priced thrift shop around here. Last movie I watched was War Horse and it was wonderful but made me cry! I hope you enjoyed your romantic evening with a fun movie and the hubby!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
I watch for Italian pottery at GW and they do price it higher, especially holiday rated items. Well worth it for that little plate! Romantic movies? Does The Electric Horseman count? I never saw it when it came out years ago and was hooked after seeing Robert Redford's young gorgeous face! I was really in love with the horse though!
ReplyDeleteSimply adoring your sweet candlesticks and that darling heart shaped plate!! Well worth the price!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stoppin by!!
Hugs,
Debbie
I love red roses...they are my favorite! And your dish is just perfect! We have not seen that movie but we watched Ever After last week and it's very sweet. Have you seen it? Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteThose roses are gorgeous, and to think that you have them in your garden now! love your new plate from GW and those ccandlesticks are so pretty. You've put them all together for a lovely Valentine vignette. laurie
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty Valentiney post! The red and whites are perfect together.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed the movie. Thanks so much for visiting my blog recently.
Your roses are the perfect compliment to the cherub heart-shaped plate! Love your styling!
ReplyDeleteKaren, every now and then we have to pay a little more for something that matches so perfectly. The little plate looks like it came as a set with your candle holders. The red roses against the white is stunning! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Karen, I am featuring you at my 'showing a little love' challenge post today.
