You remember my hutch? How I woke Monsieur Stan up to go it that morning...
Well, a couple months before that I woke him up about this coffeetable. $40.
I just never "decorated" it. I like my little topiary here and I am celebrating that I have kept it alive for a couple months now!
My vintage bird cage....$3 at a garage sale. I had grandiose ideas of big pillar candles grouped inside....um, did you notice the tiny door, Karen??
So....tea-lights will do...
It's peaceful in the house. Kids are at school, Monsieur Stany is at work and Momma gets to blog. Do you see the throw on my couch? Matches perfectly. Has pretty tassels and some chenille trim. $1
It's suppose to be 60 degrees Fahrenheit today....so I might get some gardening in. My little galvanized watering tins are made with French book pages from the early 1900s.
Here's how I did my tea-lights. I spruced them up with decorative washi tape.. I get tea-lights by the bag full at garage sales every year.
Wrap them up on Washi tape and they go from unsightly to pretty....
I might just stay in with the curtains drawn and candles on and enjoy my solitude. I think I'll make my low-carb no sugar hot chocolate....
Half and half
Hershey’s unsweetened cocoa
and equal....
de-lish
Time to sit back and enjoy some of my favorite blogs....I love my blog friends!
Bisous,
Karen

Thanks Trisha! I know, we are lucky. I should get outside and clean up my rose bushes, etc. but, it's cozy in here. :) The temps have been real low in the middle of the night (29...that's low for us) but it's been warming up in the day! I'll send some heat your way!

Karen I love the vignette. I'm ready to snuggle under that throw and just watch the candle light! Enjoy your time to yourself! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeletelooks so pretty Karen.
ReplyDeletea back link:: they want you to have the Link to their Party on Your blog, BEFORE you try to add your post to their party.:) so now you can play at all their parties you want to-- just make sure the LINK to the party is on your blog first-- then post ..
Oh. Well, I just had the button. I copy and pasted the button and even went back to blog and clicked on my button to their website and then tried to enter. Nothing. Wouldn't let me. So, I need the http:/ link. Oh, well. I give up. it's the first day of the party and I would be about #300 now anyway. Even added the button to my side-bar. I am not very computer savvy. I thought I was getting better. Thanks so much for your help!!

ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful birdcage! I haven't put much on my coffee table yet..it's evolving! I would love to have some of the hot choc! Sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteIt is just beautiful. I was at a thrift store a few months back and passed up a birdcage very similar to yours, although it was priced at $15.00 I kick myself that I didn't grab it. You got a smokin deal! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteHere I am wondering what to do with the bird cage in my living room and you give me the great idea of candles! Thanks. The coffee table looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen. That little scene on your coffee table is really pretty. I get so jealous when I see the pretty things that everyone gets for such cheap prices. Seems like I never see enough of those bargains. I have been wanting a topiary like yours forever but my luck with live plants is not too good, but I've never seen a faux one that looks as pretty. Hope you are staying warm..Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteJudy, if you ever get a chance, Rosevillle has the best garage sales. My mom and my BFF live there. I'll meet my friend at 7 a.m. on Saturday mornings and we just follow signs. It never fails. We fill her SUV every time. I'll try to give you the heads up when they do their huge community sales. :)

ReplyDeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteYour table grouping looks wonderful. Congrats on keeping the topiary alive, I probably would have killed it by now. Indoor plants and I don't get along. Very cute idea of using washi tape on the candles. Makes them much nicer to look at, and oh, LOVE your birdhouse~What a great bargain that you got on that!!
Have a Happy Day :0)
Great vignette, Karen. I love the tea lights. Great idea.

Linda (and Jeannie) at The French Hens Nest
What a lovely little setting, birdcages always look so cute.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your idea of using washi tape to dress up tea lights, Karen! And I also adore your birdhouse, too! I had a very similar one that I painted heirloom white, and sold in my shop last year. I wish I had kept it for myself! Your vignette looks just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh Karen, I love that arrangment. Sooooo cute. I LOVE the candles inside the birdcage. What a great idea! Love it. Susan
ReplyDeleteI wonder if one of those dollar store candles in the tall skinny glass jars would fit through that door. So pretty. Love that look.
ReplyDeleteLiz
Oh, I am not sure. Can't picture them, but it's a good excuse to go check them out!! Thanks!

Great vignette, love the washi tape on the tea lights that's a great tip.

Such a sweet arrangement, I love that it's not too complicated. This way you can appreciate the beauty of each item :)
ReplyDeleteI really love your style... Great ideas here!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe yo got that bird cage for 3.00 dollars! Great idea with the washi tape. Have a great weekend, Laura
ReplyDeleteHello Karen, this is gorgeous - loving the tea lights in the birdcage - inspiring,
ReplyDeleteKathy
I think your table top vignette is lovely. I can't believe you found that bird cage for only $3.00! What a fantastic find! Thank you for sharing at TTF.
ReplyDeleteYou have a way of putting things together that I love! Total score on that bird cage (so jealous) and I would never have thought to decorate my tealight candles. Genius girl!
ReplyDeleteYes I agree, your bird cage is awesome!! LOve your wee vignette on your coffe table.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Washi tape..
Okay, this post just made my morning! I really NEEDED that tip about dressing up the tea lights! I have a metal Christmas tree that holds 15 tealights, but the metal cups of the tea lights detract from the look. The Washi tape will be a brilliant solution for Christmas 2013! Your coffee table vignette is really appealing -- just the right amount of "stuff" assembled for a pleasing look.
