Cherubs

I have been going through the boxes of products and vintage goodies that I did not sell at my first vendor show. If you remember, I didn't sell much at all. Including these little cherub candle holders. I think I was asking $3 for the pair.
I love my new off-white runner I found at Goodwill. It was $2.99. How about these ribbons? They are currently at Michael's for $2. They had other colors as well. I also bought one in pink. But, today I am going white and off-white.
I added some of the ribbon to my Cherubs and my old creamer. Everything is very subtle...

I like this monotone look. My next project, perhaps this summer, is to paint my living room. I think I like the color of this table runner. Maybe I'll go with that.

Here you can see the baubles on my little cherub...

I like this neutral Valentine's Day look. My red polka dot  mugs are back in the hutch.

I recently found these curtains at Goodwill as well....I knew it was a mistake, number one...there are four. I have three windows. Not two. I just couldn't resist. They were $2.99 a panel. I have washed them and ironed them.
They were handmade curtains, and she/he used a lot of fabric. The red and white stripes cover half the back of the curtains. Oh, the things I could make if I could sew...or had a machine. That's my garage sale goal this year. I see machines all the time. So I am getting one this summer! I'd make a table runner, a pillow for the bench at my table, little stuffed heart pillows, maybe some valances for the kitchen.....what else could I make? Do you like this fabric as much as me??

                                                             Gros bisous!

    1. No one bought anything. It was a bust. Lol. I had a vintage picnic basket, a big rusty bucket, tons of stuff. Go figure. I have been going through all the boxes and trying to use everything. Kind of glad I still have a lot of it.

  2. The cherubs are precious...aren't you a bit happy they didn't sell? You have such a romantic arrangement on your table now!

The fabric is gorgeous! With a little iron on fusing you could make a few runners and napkins. I can't sew either and I love that stuff. I bought s brand new machine a few years ago and couldn't even thread the bobbin. I was going to have my SIL help me learn and then just lost my enthusiasm...so much measuring and math and patience!! I hope you come up with something beautiful to use it for! :)

  3. The curtains are lovely. Can you use them elsewhere or make a valance out of them and a contrasting fabric on your windows? Too bad you don't have enough to do all three windows.

    1. Thank you! I know. I think there are so many possibilities, but I just need to have the confidence and map out what I could do. I should be patient too and wait until I buy a sewing machine at a garage sale. :) Maybe few little hearts could be hand stitched??? I could try!

  7. Oh Karen! Your little cherub candle holders are so adorable! I would have snatched them up if I had come upon them! I love the layout on the table, the soft white pieces look so pretty. I have a sewing machine, and I know how to sew, but I never do ANYTHING with my machine...except make my crazy quilt squares. I always see such great creations, but I never get it out and try my hand at sewing curtains or covers. I have an ottoman that I really want to cover, but I just can't seem to make myself do it.

    1. Oh, Leslie, you are so lucky to know how to sew and have a machine!! Come over and help me!! lol I have a an old bench that need re-covering in the hallway and my bar stools need to be re-covered too. I can't do that. No way. Think of the great post it would make if you did your ottoman!!! :)

I love the fabric! Maybe you can find a coordinating fabric to add to this beautiful florals so you can do the three windows. I hope so.
Yes, you definitely need a sewing machine! I can't imagine life without one.

    1. I know. It's a small skinny window too. Currently it only has one panel that drapes to one side. I tried to imagine how it would look with no curtain on the at window, etc. or using the stripes (there is ton of the red and white striped material on the back of each panel) on that small window...not sure. Before I cut up all the fabric, I might try it. :)I am so enamored by people that can sew and use their machines like you!! I know that if I do find one this summer, I'll have to get my husband to help me thread it lol.

  9. Hi Karen, I love fabric too and I do not sew. I buy and sell linens old and newer. I found a ruffled twin sheet (never used) Saturday that I may have someone make tab curtains for my kitchen with. Your drapes linen in red ticking stripe are a great find. xo, Olive

  10. I love those sweet candlesticks and the curtains are beautiful. I try to think of them as fabric, too. You need a sewing machine, my friend! You could make pillows...or pillow covers. I make covers now to put over my throw pillows. I don't have room in the linen closet for more pillows! lol Hugs!

    1. Thanks! I know!! I will find a sewing machine this spring. My friend Marcy and I have already been plotting our garage sale days. Here in California we have a "garage sale season"...so we are patiently waiting for March when it starts back up again!! I cannot wait. I see machines all the time. I should have asked all of you what to look for in a machine! i suppose I just need something cheap and simple...since I don't sew after all! lol

  15. I adore your cherub candlesticks. (I can't believe someone didn't snap them right up!) You absolutely MUST get a sewing machine. I bought an inexpensive one on sale at Jo-Ann.com last year, and I swear it changed my life! :)

  24. Hello,
I DO love those curtains as much as you. The material looks very similar to the cushions I have on my couch. My son gave me a sewing machine 3 years ago for Christmas (at my request), and I'm ashamed to say, I haven't used it. But I'm like you in thinking of all the cute things I'd like to make.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, too.
