Mom's Party.

The birthday girl was the first person to arrive. After months of preparations, she's about to see all we have done for her. The kids nearly knocked her down in the driveway.

Marcy, Stan and I stepped back and let her take in the photo banner with the kids. Yes....I looked over at Marcy and we were both in tears.
She was touched and surprised. When people began to arrive, we could hear say..."Oh, come look at this!"

I always try to remember what each guest said they'd bring and have lots of serving spoons, etc., ready for when they arrive.

The table filled up quickly. The food was delicious. I haven't had to cook all week! Boy, I am going to miss that!

I was able to make these the night before. Salami with cream cheese. Some were plain, some had capers, and some had pepercinis. They were gobbled up quickly.
I mixed my three sets of silver and used a mix of plates and all vintage linens.

We had at least 40 people here to celebrate. By late afternoon it was in the low 90's. good friend Nathalie got a few group pictures, but I haven't seen them yet.
The party started at noon and went on until 11 PM. I think fun was had by all!

  1. I'm sure she was very touched. What a great idea for a photo banner. I'm going to have to keep that one in mind.
    Everything looks lovely.

  2. This looks like a lovely party! I love the photo at the end of your mother enjoying the party...she has a wonderful smile!

  3. Oh, this makes me so very happy! Your mom is blessed to have a daughter who loves her so dearly. Thanks for inviting us to the party. Cherry Kay

  4. Oh my goodness gracious! What a spread!

Your momma looks so giddy and happy - you really did a nice thing having this special birthday for her!

My mom only lived to be 59 and my dad only lived to 62, so a 70th birthday never happened. Sniff.

I love the way you piled your silver together like that - beautiful picture! Love the candelabra too - and just that you did such a good job. Yay.

And oh my gosh what a long party, you must have been EXHAUSTED, holy moley - my 5 hour tea parties about kill me, I cannot imagine 11 hour parties, wow!

You deserve a massage and a big soak in the tub and a nap!

  5. The party looks like fun, and it is so good to celebrate the birthday girl's 70 years.

  6. What a great picture of the ladies laughing!!
The Party banner is a wonderful idea.
    So sweet,
