San Francisco

This picture would have been so much better with my Pain au Rasin, but you see I haven't had carbs since May...so I inhaled this puppy so fast. I did consider getting another one so I could a picture but I know it was more for me than you....Visit La Boulange here
This is were I sat and waited for Stan while he was at the French Consulate.
I was driving and just dropped him off in front. I parked (public parking So crowded you must give up your keys so they can wedge you in.)

Stan asked me what I wanted to do in San Francisco and my first response was have a coffee and croissant at a French bakery. I was happy to see a La Boulange right in front of my public parking. I sat here for well over an hour. Taking in the sights and sounds. My cappuccino was delicious.
Fiona's Sweet Shoppe
Cutest little candy shop around. I said I'd come back and get something for the kids. Never do that! Get it while you are there. I didn't make it back!! They had the best little candies and British candy to boot. Look at that banner!!!
 Tiny....and sweet.
Market day. It was fun walking around and seeing the fresh food and people watching.

Walking around calmed me. I received a few texts from Stan here and there...

Here you can see the glass roof from the market place......This is were I got the finally text....emergency passport approved...done!

If you are going to ruin you your no-carb diet...you might as well go all out. Homemade pasta carbonara. We enjoyed the intimate feel of this tiny Italian restaurant and comfort of food and wine while feeling somewhat victorious.

Stan's mother's cancer is not small cell. It is lung cancer that has spread to the pleura. Stan leaves next Thursday. Thank you for your prayers and kind words. It's amazing how these things can carry you through. Merci!

Karen

    1. Thanks, Linda. I am so relieved. He also found a great flight at a great price. I am not sure how I am getting the kids to school while he is gone, but many have said they'd help! Happy weekend!

    1. Kris, funny you say that...as there was an interesting argument over a parking space that last a good 40 minutes. The irate woman even called the police. Very entertaining. Thank you for your positive thoughts! I appreciate it!

although my sister was born there and
I have lived in LA and 17 other states?
One day... your photos are just beautiful.
Thanks for your visit to my blog!

  9. I have only been to San Francisco once in my life so far but would love to return and visit some of the places you talked about. It is a beautiful place to visit. I'm very sorry about your MIL's health. I understand how sad dealing with cancer is because my sweet Great Uncle has just been diagnosed with lung cancer also. Let's keep both our families in prayer.

  11. Karen, how much fun is San Francisco? To visit, not to live there in my experience. My cousin and I moved there in the late 50's to work. Our apartment rent was too high ($97 per month!) and parking was horrendous at the apartment. We rode the bus to work, so that wasn't bad. But when you are that young, a lot of great things are not taken advantage of. Now, it is one of my most favorite places to visit. There is just such a feel about the city. Still keeping your MIL in our thoughts and prayers. Hope Stan has a safe journey..Take Care, Judy

  12. Hi Karen,
I have never been to SF and having been to Vancouver, BC several times, I'm not too much into big cities any more. I figure if you've seen one, you've seen them all. Now Europe is another thing altogether! But I really am more of a small town girl.
Safe travels for your hubby and I will pray for your MIL. God bless her!
Thank you for your visit and have a lovely weekend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
