Lake Tahoe, North Shore.

We are lucky enough to live about an hour and a half from Lake Tahoe. We just booked three nights at the Peppermill in Reno, so we planned to stop in Tahoe on the way up. Lake Tahoe is situated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It's a small piece of paradise that can be enjoyed in the winter for skiing and the summer for all of it's hiking and beaches. Parts of the lake are in California and parts are in Nevada. The North Shore is laid back and mellow. The South Side has bigger casino hotels and different feel. Both great with plenty to offer. We like taking the kids to King's Beach. It's not far off of highway 80 and we find the parking easy. $8 pays for the day and you are right on the beach. There are numerous amounts of beaches everywhere and camping sites as well.

Going to King's Beach!!

Poor Lucie, had no idea where we were going. Clueless. Bless her heart as you'd say in the south. Half way up the mountains she did figure out we weren't going to a beach in the Bay Area (The area surrounding San Francisco). We are also just 2 hours from all the beaches there, Stinson Beach and Point Reyes, etc.

You can rent jet skis, boats, paddle boats and water bikes. You can also going para-sailing. Fun for all. A few years ago we rented a boat. It was a lot of fun. Over $100.00 for just a half hour. So, we won't be doing that each time. The homes you could see as you cruised around were just amazing.

Don't bother dressing up...it's just very casual here. Kind of nice. No sidewalks...I remember that from when I was a kid. There is a distinct feel to Tahoe. It is where all the folks form the San Francisco area like to come and be one with nature.

Cute cafes and shops

Took this from the car....pretty good considering all the huge pines that where in the way. We had the windows down and it smelled so good! This is a view of Incline Village. Gorgeous multimillion dollar homes and nice beaches. There is a wonderful fire pit right on the beach here. Get a drink at the bar and there you have it.

If you ever get the chance to go to Tahoe, I highly recommend it. It's a must. Renting a cabin with a group is a great way to do it.

One of our favorite places is right next to King's Beach, Tahoe City!!

It's a great place to go sledding or learn to ski.

Okay......hope you like Tahoe. Next time I'll be posting about the Peppermill in Reno. The machines are calling my name :) Ca Ching!
