White Roses

When the party is over and everything has been cleaned up.

 Flowers, cut and arranged properly...
Not quite ready to tuck the silver away. Still enjoying it's pretty glow.
 Pretty white roses reminding me....
I should buy them for myself every now and then.
Cleaned up, rearranged....

 Almost everything put away.
Just awaiting the next party day. For now it's quiet and I am enjoying the roses.

Please excuse my blinds. I dreaming of plantation blinds or Roman shades....someday!

Bisous,

  2. I sometimes adore that time after a party.....thinkling back to how it went, getting things back to being quiet and clean again............you p repared so long and hard for that day.

    You are an amazing lady.

I had Lowes come out and measure for plantation shutters but I didn't end up getting them because my windows are "deep" enough and they would have stuck out funny. Oh well.

I ended up with buying a few nice 2 inch slated wooden blinds and love them. They were pricey but worth it. And just doing curtains or sheers on a few others.

As for Roman blinds, I have them in the kitchen and on my patio door and ADORE THEM. I think I bought them through Home Decorators or Country Curtains and they were very affordable (compared to my new wooden blinds especially.)

There are a bunch of tutorials on how to make Roman blinds online, esp with the clever bloggers....so it is a dream that can happy for you sooner than you think.

    Hugs hugs hugs,

    1. Michele, you are so sweet! I remember when we moved in. The housing market was going up and up. we paid way too much for our little place. It cost over $1,500 just for this aluminum blinds to be installed before we moved in. That got added on the cost of the home. we had NO upgrades as we have slowly done everything on our own. However, I INSISTED on blinds, because I was scared I was going to be one of the houses with sheets hung up forever!!!!! I am going to invest in some window covering soon. first I need new appliances! :) I'll have to google roman blinds and see if there is anything I could handle.

I do love the morning after a big event. I don't even mind hand washing all the stemware, etc. For a split second my house was actually clean!! The party was a lot like a wedding. I planned and planned and barely remember a thing!! Feels like it lasted a minute! :)

  4. I have missed seeing your beautiful pictures! I just looked at the bottom of my blogroll and saw that yours was on it, saying 1 month ago. I clicked on it to see if I could find out why you weren't posting and was amazed to see you are. What could cause that to happen on my blogroll? Please help me if you know how I can correct it. Meanwhile I'll have to just find you the hard way. I've missed you, and please forgive me for not visiting. I try to faithfully visit all the latest posts on my blogroll.

  6. Karen,
Your white roses are beautiful. I think it's a great idea to buy yourself some flowers every now and then, and actually last year I decided to do that for myself too. I just bought some yellow roses last week. Your white roses look so nice next to the candles. Isn't it nice when everything is quiet and the house looks its best?

    Enjoy the roses.

    Love,

  10. Hi, Karen! OK...so is your dining room adjacent to your living room, or are you one of those o-so-lucky gals who has the good fortune to have a fireplace in the dining room? I just love seeing that! That just seems to me to be such a natural location for a fireplace!!! I love that sunny paint color, too!

Roses (or any flower, for that matter!) are a wonderful way to treat yourself. We work so hard and deserve to have a little beauty in our everyday lives. I'm glad you had the chance to enjoy these!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog earlier today. I really appreciate it! Hope your Mother's Day was a great one!!!

Oh...P.S. - I'm with you on the blinds. I've not been able to make up my mind about drapes or curtains, so the blinds just remain all alone...by themselves. It's just the way life is sometimes! :-)
