Spring Centerpiece

Spring is in the air. We have been very fortunate here in  The Northern Californian Valley. It's felt much like spring since January. It rained last week and we rejoiced. I have a fire going this morning, but it is mostly symbolic as I know soon....it will be too hot.

For spring, I add moss and twigs to my large vase and topped it off with yellow and brown eggs. I found this wonderful kit at simply add to an existing vase at Target. $4.99. It came with plenty of eggs. It was the last vase kit available.
I found my cute moss birds at my local Belair market. They were marked down to $5 and $3.50. I find so many goodies there. Remember my heart shaped jeely beans were from Belair as well.
I found my stash of Tussie Mussies.....none of which sold at my one and only vendor show. I had spring, Christmas, and Halloween Cones. I was asking $2. They are made from Hymnal Sheet music from 1938.
As a last minute idea I added my Pfaltzgraff, Naturewood sculpted basket. I love this find from Goodwill. It was $3.99. It's too modern to sell on Esty. This happens to me all the all time....oh, what to do. I am obligated to keep it. Wink wink.
I added Rosemary to my basket. It's fragrant and pretty wit it's lavender flowers.
I think I prefer the basket as a centerpiece, funny how after thoughts can become your favorites.

It has been windy so it feels colder than it actually is. This weekend I am staying in and just dreaming of the gardening projects to come.
I am looking forward to all the fresh flowers, the fresh cherry tomatoes and moments spent outside watching the children play.

Thanks for visiting....and all your thoughts and prayers......they mean the world to me.

Bisous!

  1. Beautiful centerpiece. I don't blame you for keeping that cute basket. I love your target vase. I have not started thinking about spring as far as decorating. I will probably start in March sometime.

  2. What a great looking centerpiece. That Pfaltzgraff basket is great- I have some of their old pieces that I really love, too. It is too early for Spring here yet- we don't really warm up until May so I envy you your weather- xo Diana

    1. Thanks, Diana!! I finally got the kids to bed and I am reading my comments, etc. SO SO glad I read this. I spelled Pflatzgraff wrong. I am always doing things like that. Geez. I used to go the outlet store when we lived in Vacaville. I loved it. I wonder if it's still there? I'll have to go see! :) After living in a very rainy gray part of France for all those years, I will never take the weather for grant here in California. I know we are lucky and I appreciate every day. My first year back when the kids were babies, I remember wearing sandals an swimming in March. I was on cloud nine. However, it will be too warm already by May :) Hope you are having a great weekend!!

    1. Thank you, Betsy! So nice of you! I made the buckets. I have quite a few of these hand sketched birds from an old French book dated 1910. The book completely fell apart so I have used it on various projects. You do so many great things....I'd love to send you some :) If you think you could use them, email me back with your address I can get some in the mail to you!! I know you'd put them to good use. Have a great week!

  28. I love all the Hauser Green touches in your vignette...so pretty. Your sheet music tussie mussies gave me a thought. Have you been to the Hurst Castle in San Simeon. One of the suites has amazing lampshades made of ancient parchment sheet music. They are spectacular. I wonder if your sheet music tussie mussies might be a hit in their gift shop. Also, I wonder if you might use your sheet music and do some darling lamp shades. Always brainstorming. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

  33. Thanks so much for always stopping by and having such nice things to say!!

I love your Spring vignette and I adore your tussie mussies. I make my own version of them using thread cones form a local silk mill. I usually do well with selling them at the 2 local craft Fairs that I do during the year...

  35. I love it all, Karen. We are so lucky to live where we do. Here in Florida, I was off to Key Largo this weekend wearing a straw hat and sandals.
I've been decorating for spring too. Brought out birdies similar to yours (mine are white) and placed a nest with eggs on a cake stand covered with a glass cloche. I love the idea of tucking in the rosemary to your centerpiece. I must try that out. We buy huge rosemary sprigs at our local farmer's market which would be perfect for this.
    Love visiting with you today.
