Dollar Store Pumpkins Up-cycle. Oh, Glitter Makes The World Go Round.

This Dollar Store pumpkin is so sad and cheap looking. From the cheesy bright orange color to the pathetic seam. Add a little glitter and you have a sweet pumpkin dream!

It seriously takes two seconds. Here is my trick....and oh what a treat.

Use a file folder for small objects! Hold in the hand or spray object while suspended. Don't spray near the file folder. You don't want it to get tacky.

Once your pumpkin is well coated in the adhesive spray, set it down on the file folder and pour away. For these pumpkins I chose Martha Stewart's, Fire opal glitter. I love this color. Her glitter is a dollar more than the other brands, but it's such a nice, thin, soft texture and the small jar will really last a long time. It completely changed the color and look of these cheap pumpkins. The glitter was  $4.99 And as you'll see...thanks to the file folder, almost all of it got poured back in.

Love my file folders for this. As you can see the jar is still virtually full. Since I really like this color I may have to make another trip to The Dollar Store :)
What else I can glitter-up around here???

Candy Corn

I love large hurricane candle holders and apothecary jars. You can switch them up for any season or holiday. To add some whimsy to my spooky vintage look...why not Candy Corn?? If I can just keep the kids and ants out....it's going to be cute!

What I love is the flame-less tea lights I added. No flames and no melting candle on the candy...These were in a pack of six....two white, two purple and these two in orange. I think they look good!

Festive and inexpensive. I am thinking the little Candy Corn pumpkins would be even better........maybe???

Halloween Decorating

One of my favorite times of year. This is gargoyle, glitter, paper wheel and crow year. Today I finished my small buffet and my little console. I am sure there will be some rearranging, but for now I am happy.

My hand-crafted "vintage" paper wheels hang above my birdcages $3 a piece at garage sales this summer. You can see my thrift store candle aglow....love the black and orange harlequin look, 99 cents. I might shift some things about but, I am pretty content with the feel.

My crow with his hand-crafted "vintage" sheet music hat.

Meet the great grandparents....Olive and Lewis:

Muaha hahaha

 Creepy crawlies....

My table drapes, from The Dollar Store, my small apothecary jars from a recent garage sale at 50 cents a piece...

You gotta love glitter on a gargoyle!

Thrift Store Pumpkin Up-Cycling.

Found these outdated pumpkins at the thrift store yesterday....oh what a little glitter can do.

                                         Before                           After

Before....Okay but after:

Hooray!!

These little pumpkins were 50 cents each. Used my tacky adhesive spray and some white/translucent glitter I already had. You can use other colored glitter they offer at the crafts stores, though. Martha Stewart has some fantastic orange and brown glitters....I just kept it simple and used what I had to keep the cost down.

Have fun with it......keep your eyes in the "before and after" mood at all times!!!

Betty Crocker Pumpkin Spice Cookies

I just know these will be good. I can't wait to make them. I love finding new products!!

Just add water, margarine an egg and you'll have warm pumpkin spice cookies in 20 minutes!

Okay.....couldn't resist, making them today. Even the dry mix looked pretty good! LOL

So simple. Add and egg, 1/2 cup margarine and 2 tablespoons of water to the mix...and presto! Aromatic pumpkin spice cookie dough!

Kitchen smells yummy.

These were a huge hit! Lucas asked if I’d make these for his birthday! My only advice, use two mixes if you are having a crowd. Makes a small batch....no left overs for this family :(

Vintage Breadbox and My Dirty Little Secret.

I have...sorry, I HAD a dirty little secret. My big heap of stupid junk I hid to one side of the fridge. One day, I was cleaning it up when, Lucie said, " Oh, Mommy, Grandma is going to be so happy you are cleaning that". I said, "Really, Lucie? Grandma mentioned that she wanted me to clean this?" Aren't kids cute. So, today I took a picture of it to show the world. It was very hard for me to do. I do not like messes. I like things neat and clean. In the years B.C. (before children) I was able to keep things neat and clean. Now I just can't seem to do it all. So, here it is. I am ashamed and embarrassed.

Oh. My. God. I am horrified. You cannot see this spot from the front door or while looking into the kitchen. You have to actually be in the kitchen right up against the sink. As you can see it's a catch all.....okay, it's a dump. Every time I clean it, go through it, throw things away, what have you; it piles right back up again. So I decided to do something about it. Today I bought a vintage breadbox. It's just darling. Here it is:

It's cool. So now for the clean up. Lets just say I fill up a kitchen bag with old bread, marshmallows and English muffins I didn't even know we had. Here it is after the clean up...but now I need to add some things.
Well, it's better, but so not right. The plaque has got to go, and I need to add something, but right now I am NOT buying more. I am in the purging mode. I want things clean and simple. So after search around I came up with this for now. I think it looks much better! Here it is:
Much better. Clean. Bread hidden with a vintage feel. Hope my mom approves.

Lucie's Paris Party

We finally had Lucie's Paris party. Seems like I have been prepping for it slowly since July. I am glad I had been doing that, because as it is, I woke at 5:45 a.m. and was on the go until just before the party. Fun was had by all.

Welcome! These looked so cute at night. They were a last minute Idea. Had the jars, had the stakes, had the tulle and I had the pink tea lights, so Voila. It added a cute touch. I just made sure the material was not near the flame or opening. These Mason jars are from the Classico line of sauces!

Garage tin tray. Added chalk board contact paper! Love it. Very easy. Ribbons attached with my best friend, glue gun.

I liked this was somewhat out of  reach (from the kids) and yet totally visible all evening.

My bell jar all "pinked" up.

And the goodies.....

Goodies for the parents.
