French Press Coffee

There is a reason the French Press has been around so long. It makes the best cup of coffee hands down. Don't be afraid to try one. I got mine at a garage sale for $5. It sells for about $26.

This is your basic French press. The idea is to soak the grounds and press out the water. Simple and delicious.

Here's how:

You want to start with a coarsely ground coffee. Your local coffee house can do that for you if, you don't have a coffee bean grinder at home.

Add 4-5 tablespoons of the coarsely ground coffee to your press.
Now, boil water. Once the water boils, let it sit for about 2 minutes (use your stove timer) You don't want to burn the beans. It will make your coffee bitter.

Stir to make sure all the grounds are good and wet. Using your timer again, let the grounds bathe for 4-5 minutes. Afterward, you will slowly press.

Slowly pressing. Keep in mind....no coffee filters OR electricity needed!

Coffee in the afternoon with cookies or pastries is one of favorite French traditions. It's called "le goĆ»ter".  Okay......it's mostly a snack for children, but women are smart and take advantage of the down time.

Another French tradition; fancy sugar cubes!

Bon Gouter!
