Stars and Stripes Tablescape

This year for the fourth of July, I am setting my table with my Colonial, Warren Kimble plates, by Sakura. I am in love with their worn stained Old Glory look. Rustic and fun.

I am using the red and white ticking napkins that I made and my napkin holders from an estate sale. If you haven't read the story about that estate, read about it here. I have found pieces of these Warren Kimble plates in three different places now. I found the large plates and a couple salad plates at a garage sale years ago in Roseville, California. Then the following year all the bowls at a garage here in Woodland, California. Then I found more salad plates at a local Goodwill. I love that when that happens! I hope I find more pieces, as I really love this set.

Frosted blue votive sitting on one of red and white napkins inside my Currier and Ives sugar bowl. These red compotes Luminarc, from France. Perfect for a scoop of your favorite ice cream on these warm evenings.

Here, I have taken the soup bowl off the place setting. You can see how cute the "Colonial" salad plate is.

A very bright refreshing Americana look. Living in France for a total of almost 8 years, I missed my share of fourth of July celebrations. I think that's why it means even more to me now. There is something so American about the casual family gathering with Barbeques, watermelon, American flags and fireworks.

 Floating stars on stripes.

Can you ever have enough American Flags? A bouquet doesn't have to be limited to Flowers. Here I have filled up a small footed milk glass vase with small American flags.

 Baby, you're a firework.....

We made no plans this year for The Fourth of July. We begin to regret it and brainstorm what we could do. Then, just yesterday, I received an email from our local casino. They offered us a free suite for one night, the 3 rd or 4 Th. since this year the Fourth falls on a Thursday, they probably don't have the crowd they were expecting. I called to reserve the free suite quicker than you can say, yes please!I'll be posting about the suite and our stay.

I am looking forward to being poolside. It is supposed to be 108 degrees that day...

Happy Fourth of July to you and your family!

Bisous,
Karen

  4. Dear Karen,

LOVE your sweet patriotic tablescape - and totally am swooning with happiness for you on your awesome free suite score! I know you will really enjoy "getting away from it all" for a well deserved respite.

Stay cool - it FINALLY cooled off here a bit and between weird pockets of rain has been a lovely day for once.

    1. Thanks, Michele! I am excited too. It's about 107 here today, so I am looking forward to the pool! We were really feeling like doing something and it just fell in our laps. Of course, it always takes a few days and then, we realize! Oh no! The dogs. We go every where with free rooms, but they cost a fortune! lol I hope you have a great Fourth of July!

  10. Your flags look so cute and you have put together a wonderful display of Americana. It looks just wonderful.

Oh- Do you know I had a whole set of those dishes when I got married and my hubby gave them away when we moved along with a whole box of Americana stuff. I could have (maybe should have) killed him...(just kidding blog police). Anyway, we had one house that was all Americana. I loved it then and still have some of the pieces downstairs.

Have a wonderful getaway. I hope you have fun and safe travels- xo Diana

  11. I like everything about your Stars and Stripes Table. You did a great job on the napkins, and the vignette with the flags is a darling idea. How wonderful that you've found your flag plates through the years. They set a beautiful table. I've made a note that you collect these so that if I ever see any in GW or thrifts I can snag them for you. '-)

  29. Absolutely beautiful, timelessly endearing tablescape, dear Karen. I adore your hammed silverware, it's always been a favourite style of mine (I saved up for months many years ago when I was young, single, and barely scraping by to purchase a set of my own from Martha Stewart's line - to this day they remain my "good flatware" and are loved even more with each passing year).

I will put them in the display plate rack for now as this makes the third different set of patriotic dishes I am acquiring. That's okay though-I love to mix and match and red, white and blue always works! Love that you found your different pieces all over-the thrill of the hunt!!!! Have a happy fourth!!

  36. Love your patriotic tablescape! I have 8 of the salad plates thrifted 2 diff times from Savers, 1.99 each. I would love to find the dinners, but I paired them with navy plates for my scape.

Hope you had a fun get away!

  37. I bought a set of eight of that beautiful dinnerware years ago and was able to score another complete set, again years ago, at BB&B on sale and with a coupon!! I just love it and have seen it increase in value over the years. No wonder, it's just perfect for Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day, all through the summer. Gorgeous setup.
