I love Kathe, from Kathe with an E. This is not the first time she has inspired me. If you aren't already following Kathe, hop on over and do so!! She has a fabulous party coming up on Tuesday too!!
Isn't Her Valentine's Day Vignette just perfect?
It was fun to fill up the crate with goodies, but a lot harder than it looks. I love this shabby crate. Hey...my first project with the curtains....okay, I know this doesn't count!!
My , Warren Kimble, Barns plates seemed to be a perfect match. I just got them out, wanting to do a tablescape, but....I only have three of the large dinner plates. I found a few more on line. I am thinking I might break down and buy one more. ON one site, the shipping was $19 for one dinner plate. Yikes.
I love shabby, but I also love this country look. I do like my red. Red makes me happy.
I found the set of four Warren Kimbles last week and a Goodwill Outlet Store of 50% off. The set of four came to $3.50. The red barn dinner plates I found for $1.99 at Goodwill almost a year ago.
Can't quite see all of my cute plates. I think that's the hard part. I think a funky wire rack would help. Probably an excuse to buy something else.
At first I tried the vignette with old rusty red star. I also used a big black and white pitcher I just bought at....you guesses it, Goodwill $2.99. My big metal star (decorates a wall in my garage...how sad is that?) was $5 at a garage sale and the woman almost apologized for it's shabbiness and told me I could paint it. Nope. i like it rusty, crusty and shabby.
Thanks for stopping by and seeing what I was up to!!! Have you done a crate/suitcase vignette??
Bisous!!

Love that star, glad it get to live in the house LOL! I have to admit I have never tried a vignette! Yours looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Thank you, Carol!! I did a not so great vignette in a vintage suitcase a while back, but I wasn't even really thinking vignette. I need to try that again. I've had this wooden crate for long and never thought of doing anything with it! It was fun. Kathe definitely motivated me!

I like the idea of "crate" display. I have the crate, just need somewhere to put it.
ReplyDeleteI have NO WHERE to put this crate. Everything on the green dresser was sitting on my big table as I snapped these pictures. Now the crate is just sitting on my table...I kind of liked the crate were I had it, but what do with all the stuff that was in the window before!! Too much stuff not enough space!! I would love to have a bigger home!!I am always thinking, wow, I have a lot of dishes, but I have so much stuff on my table I so I never set the table for dinner. lol Not good!! I would love to have a formal dining room or a kitchen nook!!

Your red vignette makes me happy too Karen! I'm glad I got inspired so that I could inspire you :-) If you ever tire of those Warren Kimball plates... Lol! I shared this on my Facebook page too!
ReplyDeleteI am not tired of them yet! I am still looking for that 4 Th big plate. Then, maybe I can even do a tablescape with them. I also have the flag motif for the 4 Th of July that matches the big plates. I have lots of that that I found at three different times! I am not quite ready to pay $19 for shipping (ouch) since I am in thrift stores on a regular basis. It's fun to be on the hunt! I saw those barn plates two different times and passed them up. I am so glad I got them last week. Thanks for sharing the post on Facebook!! Love it!

I love container displays or vignettes. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carlene! It was fun. I like container displays as well. I have seen so many cute ones! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I really appreciate it!
DeleteKaren
Karen, your vignette in a crate looks AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteWell done!
Thanks, Michele! My problem is I like so many different things. One day I think I'll paint everything white and go shabby and then next I like the Warren Kimble look. Hard for me to let go of red. I guess I think I can have it all! A bigger house would help!! lol
DeleteKaren
Cute idea! Love your plates.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deborah! I stole the idea from Kathe. Love her blog. She's a sweet lady too! Tanks for stopping by!
DeleteKaren
That would be thanks* not tanks :)
DeleteKaren, the crate vignette is spreading! '-) Makes me want to pull out some plates and create one of my own.
ReplyDeleteLove your vignette with the red theme and those darling plates. Thanks for the inspiration........Sarah
I know! It's a cute idea. You should do one! Did see the posts on Kathe's blog? They were so cute too. It's fun to do. They all inspired me! Red is one of favorites!! I am always tempted to go all white and soft neutrals, but it would be hard to say good-bye to all my reds. Hope you do one, Sarah. I know I'd love it!
DeleteKaren
I love Kathe's blog too! She is awesome! Love your vignette! Hard to believe it's your first! I think red is a happy color too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Danni! I know kathe is one of the firsts blogs i started following! She's great! Oh, and like you...the crate is already off the dresser. Thought I'd pack it all up today! :)

I love the red crate with the Kimble plates. The red is just the right touch for V-day. The rooster seems to be quite pleased with the result.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donna!! I do think I like the farm country look. I'd love to live in the country. Maybe it's my way of escaping the suburbs!! Thanks for stopping by!

Karen,
ReplyDeleteThe Kimble plates are so cute. Love those. I love your valentines vignette. Love the red and white together. So perfect for a valentines motif. Have a great Friday.
Kris
Thanks, Kris! I like the Kimble plates too. I have always liked that style. I just need to pick one style and go with it. I have about four going on...sometimes it doesn't make sense, but I can't help it. Hard to stick to one "theme" or time period for me! Enjoy your weekend!

Oh, I love the Goodwill. And I'm a sucker for moss balls, too. You've done a lovely job creating this space!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Meredith
Meredith, I just had a facebook friend post an old photo of her self form years ago and she wrote the year and said, this was last time I felt pretty. I totally thought of you. I am sending the link in her comments area. She needs to read you post! Can you believe the coincidence? Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteKaren
So pretty! I love those plates too...but $19.00 for shipping? That's criminal. Good job Karen!
ReplyDeleteI know. I was browsing and my husband said, before you fall in love with the price, check out the shipping. People don't look and buy things from Ebay, etc and THEN see the shipping. It is very expensive to ship these days, but $19 for one plate is steep. I'll keep looking. My favorite right now is shopgoodwill.com. Addicting. I can just browse that site for hours. Have you checked that out? I like to look at the new today, buy it now and the listings that are about to close. Shipping can be outrageous but if the bid is low it's worth it!!

I love the idea of a vignette for each season or holiday. In the post I had to create them for shows and have created them for certain other special times as well. Very nicely put together post.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am learning! I always think of something else I should have done or added afterward. It's all fun! I had one market/vendor show. It was 105 degrees and it was horrible. Maybe I'll try again sometime. What shows do you do?
DeleteKaren
I love your crate vignette. I'm sure it's harder than it looks, but it came out fantastic. Makes me want to try one myself. By the way, those plates are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maggie! Means a lot coming from you! I like the little barn plates, too. I really needed them! Lol. Not.
DeleteKaren
Karen you did a great job! I am such a Kathe fan also! I love vignettes! It's so much fun to create a 'look' in a small space. Love the plates and hopefully you will find one more plate at a reasonable price/shipping costs! So glad you shared your crate vignette!
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda

Dee
Loving your little box of treasures...I also am a big fan of red! Diane
ReplyDeleteDearest Karen,
ReplyDeleteFound you at Dee's blog and came over for a visit. So it is in your genes and you are lucky for living in California. We always loved it when we did consulting work in the Santa Cruz area and had some time for weekend shopping and thrifting. Have a lovely weekend!
Mariette
Karen-That is just a really cute vignette. I don't know Kathe with an E but I will check her out. Love that old red star and the plates are all amazing GW finds. It looks like you are ready for the holiday-xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHello, Karen! What a nice surprise to read your nice comment on my blog. I spent some time exploring your blog here before commenting and can tell you that I love it and your writing. I have never done a container vignette but yours has inspired me to look around and see what I can find. I do love Goodwill finds too, so does my husband. He was a convert after finding a Restoration Hardware stainless steel pendant light for under $5 our first trip there. Your plates are so pretty and you were smart to grab them even if there were only 3. Sooner or later you will find another at more reasonable shipping. I have loved my visit--and haven't even gotten back to Christmas yet. I know I will enjoy that and your other posts. So glad to meet you,
ReplyDeleteDewena
I loved Kathe's and yours too! So full of wonderful Valentine warmth.
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you be a part of Seasonal Sundays.
